”Since everything seen or said, even the slightest, most trivial thing, can bear a connection to the outcome of the story, nothing must be overlooked. Everything becomes essence.”

‘City of Glass’, Paul Auster

Portraits of men, where ‘Portrait’ is used both in the classical meaning of the word: to capture a person's facial features, and in the renaissance point of view: to capture the essence of a person. Masterfully transferred onto canvas they exhibit physically a reference to the portrait as we know it in the materials of classical painting and yet, by extension, a nod to the genre 'photographic portraits of artists’. A supportive environment for the model is attained by use of ambiguous special designation. With nothing that can distract the spectator, undivided attention can be given to explore the specificity of each portrayed model.

Exhibition: 30/30cm black and white print, in an edition of 5, transferred onto canvas, mounted on a wooden chassis.
